Block Description
Block 10 vines are 9'wide and vines 5' apart. Vines are pruned to two shoots per spur and two buds per shoot. The vineyard is on a 3% to 5% slope. The vineyard is on a drip Irrigation system with both sprinklers and a wind machine for frost control. We source water from our own 25-acre-foot reservoir. The block produces excellent-flavored fruit. It produces approximately 5 tons per acre and is available for picking between mid-September and the first week of October. Most wineries harvest our fruit when the grapes reach 24 Brix and 3.2 PH. The fruit is available either hand-picked or machine-picked. Our machine-picked fruit is harvested with a Pellenc harvester, with fruit destemmed and stems removed. Machine-picked fruit will provide clearer fruit, picked, and for most wineries, ready for tank fermentation. Grapes are from our Block 10
Notes
Grapes are from Allen Block 10, named after Anton Nichelini's 10th child. Anton Nichelini was a pioneer Napa Valley Vintner. Our Vineyard has been owned and continuously farmed by the Nichelini Family for over 100 years. The wine has received numerous awards and recognition. Samples are available.
