Block Description

These grapes are from our Block 3. Vines are spaced 5 feet apart in 9-foot-wide rows. The vines are Quadrilateral cordons, spur-pruned to two shoots per spur and two buds per shoot (about 4 tons per acre). Vineyard Slope is 2 to 5%. Vines are Drip Irrigated, and our water is sourced from our 25-acre-foot reservoir. Chiles Valley is considered a cold climate and requires frost protection. We utilize both Wind Machines and sprinkler systems.

Notes

Grapes are from our Block 3 Josephine Block, named after Anton Nichelini's 10th child. Anton Nichelini was a pioneer Napa Valley Vintner. Our Vineyard has been owned and continuously farmed by the Nichelini Family for over 100 years. Samples are available. The block produces excellent-flavored fruit. It produces approximately 4 tons per acre and is available for picking between mid-September and the second week of October. Most wineries harvest our fruit when the grapes reach 24 Brix and 3.5 PH. The fruit is available hand-picked at night and delivered to your Napa Valley winery by 8 am. We have received numerous awards for our Cabernet Sauvignon, and samples are available.
